Hear ye Hear ye …

Every time I read or hear Governor Brown of Oregon (who wasn’t actually elected the first time) say “no more than TWO HOUSEHOLDS shall get together over the holiday” I hear this booming Shakespearean voice in my head. You can take the girl out of Ashland, Oregon (home to the infamous and oldest Elizabethan Shakespeare Festival in the Country, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival) but can’t take the Ashland, Oregon out of the girl! I called up my bestie, who THANK GOD only has one child or they couldn’t come over because well, then, we would be 7 people instead of 6! Phew! People who have only one child were Pandemic Prepared! Not to mention sitting all day at a computer with two or more different aged children while actually trying to get some work done too. Geez what were they thinking! (full sarcasm here…) Anyways I digress. I called up my friend and said “so, um, do you want to be the Montagues or the Capulets”? TWO HOUSEHOLDs (there’s that Elizabethan actor’s voice booming in my head again!). I mean, I’m really partial to Mercutio, who was TECHNICALLY a Montague but I mean all girls really want to be Juliet, right? :) so, I’m torn. Oh, and they both kill themselves in the end, fitting for a time when not allowing children and teenagers to engage with their peers and attend school or play sports is leading to a sharp increase in youth depression, anxiety, isolation, and suicide. Kate, stick to your day job running the state oh no wait actually don’t, please quit, now. Maybe you would be better as a Shakespearean actor as much as you like to pronounce proclamations that all shall heed or else….
